A Night to Remember: Ravenscroft Gala Returns After Six Years

After a six-year hiatus, the Ravenscroft community gathered on Saturday, March 7, for an unforgettable evening of celebration, connection, and generosity. The school's first gala since before the pandemic brought together families and friends for a Wicked-themed night that was –in every sense – worth the wait.

The energy in the room was electric as nearly 300 guests enjoyed an evening of fine dining, spirited bidding, and dancing under the lights. By the time the final auction paddle was raised, the community had rallied together to raise more than $275,000 to support sports and science, and the student experience at Ravenscroft.

"Your encouragement, your belief in this school, and your generosity of time, spirit, and resources make Ravenscroft the extraordinary place it is – you help make the magic,” said Head of School Derrick Willard in his remarks to event attendees. He noted that the gala is first and foremost a celebration of Ravenscroft and the remarkable students entrusted to its care from Pre-K through 12th grade.

The evening featured both live and silent auctions showcasing experiences and packages curated specifically for the Ravenscroft community. Renowned auctioneer Benjamin Farrell brought his signature energy and expertise to the live auction, keeping the crowd engaged and the bids climbing throughout the night.

Kyler Sullivan ’19 set the tone with an acoustic performance during cocktail hour. Later in the evening, guests filled the dance floor as world-class DJ Joe Bunn transformed the space into an all-out celebration. From classic favorites to current hits, the music kept the community dancing well into the evening—a fitting conclusion to a night centered on joy and togetherness.

Throughout it all, guests enjoyed exceptional cuisine by Mitchell Casteel Catering, adding another layer of excellence to an already remarkable event.

The funds raised will make an immediate impact on two critical areas of campus life. In the A.E. Finley Center, the community’s generosity will expedite essential renovations, including a new sound system in Warner Arena, and refurbishing the hallway to seamlessly connect the Finley Center to the Olander Center for Student Life. The school also plans to begin Phase I of the boys and girls locker room updates.

Additionally, the evening's success will bring new science lab equipment to the Middle and Upper Schools, ensuring students have access to cutting-edge resources that support hands-on discovery and innovation.

An event of this magnitude doesn't happen without extraordinary dedication and leadership. The evening was made possible through the tireless work of parent chairs Katie Dill, Nicole McClure, and Billie Strickland, who spent months planning every detail to create a seamless and memorable experience.

"The commitment of our gala chairs and the Advancement team was truly exceptional," said Associate Head of School for Advancement Ben Rein. "Their vision, creativity, and countless hours of work brought this event to life in a way that exceeded all expectations."

As guests departed Saturday evening, the consensus was clear: the Ravenscroft Gala is back, and it's here to stay. The overwhelming success of this year's event—both in funds raised and community spirit generated—sets an exciting precedent for years to come.

More than just a fundraiser, the gala served as a powerful reminder of what makes the Ravenscroft community special: a shared commitment to investing in students, celebrating together, and building something extraordinary for the next generation.
