After a year-long, rigorous self-study, Ravenscroft has received SAIS accreditation for 2023-2028.
Managed by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), accreditation is a critical process by which independent schools are governed and serves as one component of a school’s demonstrated effectiveness and ability to provide successful schooling for children.
To earn accreditation, Ravenscroft complied with quality standards, was evaluated by an outside group of peer professionals, and implemented a strategic plan aligned with our mission: “The Ravenscroft community, guided by our legacy of excellence, nurtures individual potential and prepares children to thrive in a complex and interdependent world.”
Our accreditation team comprised an impressive group of independent school leaders with well-established careers as tenured heads of schools, vice presidents, and associate heads from five preeminent institutions. We entered into the accreditation process from a position of strength; as noted by the SAIS Accreditation Team, “Programming at Ravenscroft is both broadly imagined and thorough, within and between the divisions. In the realms of academics, arts, and athletics, Ravenscroft students are challenged to engage in a full sweep of offerings. The school’s signature program Lead From Here braids together the whole of the community and prioritizes generative values and ideals for students, faculty, staff, and parents.” Please feel free to read the accreditation team’s Overview of the Visit.
An Endorsement of Framing Our Future
Accreditation is an endorsement and validation of Ravenscroft’s strategic direction and approach to education and, in particular, of Framing Our Future, the Strategic Plan for Ravenscroft, shared earlier this school year. The Overview of the Visit states, “The strategic plan, ‘Framing Our Future,’ outlines a compelling, student-centric direction for the future, leaving ample space for community members to fill in the spaces in the years ahead.”
