Ravenscroft’s Alumni Weekend, held May 16 -17, brought together alumni from the Classes of 1973 to 2023 for a weekend of fellowship and festivities.

The weekend kicked off with the Alumni Awards Celebration, held at The Fairview Raleigh followed by festivities on campus Saturday. More than 150 alumni were joined by friends, family, current school representatives and former faculty.

During the awards celebration, these Ravens were recognized by the Alumni Association:

• James Samson'76, Distinguished Alumni Award
• Photographer Billy Howard '73, Alumni Association Fine Arts Hall of Fame
• Basketball athlete Marc Campbell '05, Alumni Association Sports Hall of Fame
• Basketball and softball athlete Erin Bratcher '10, Alumni Association Sports Hall of Fame
• Longtime Ravenscroft coach and teacher Jimmy Cox, Class of 1862

The evening was filled with meaningful reconnections and shared memories, as alumni and former faculty came together to celebrate the achievements and lasting impact of this year’s honorees.

On Saturday, alumni and their families returned to campus for a picnic lunch on Kelly Commons. The afternoon featured live music from Upper School English teacher Kevin Flinn, fairy hair provided by Lower School Art teacher Kristen Callaghan ’14, and plenty of fun with lawn games and bounce houses. 

Later in the day, alumni from class years ending in 0 and 5 (1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, etc.) gathered for individual class reunions, celebrating together in venues across Raleigh.

“The awards ceremony was impressive, with representatives from each decade of graduates from the Falls of Neuse campus. We honored excellence in arts and athletics  — and the tribute to James Sansom '76 was moving,” Head of School Derrick Willard said. “I’d like to express gratitude for all the work put in by the Alumni Council and our teams to make the weekend a success.”
