Athletic Director Ned Gonet has announced that Brittany Schutte will assume the head coaching role for varsity softball this spring.
Schutte joined Ravenscroft in 2021 as a Physical Education teacher and currently teaches fourth through eighth grades. In addition to teaching, she is an assistant coach for the varsity cross country team and the head coach for the Middle School girls Green basketball team; she has previously served as an assistant coach for varsity baseball. She is also a mentor for S.A.L.T. (Student-Athlete Leadership Training) at Ravenscroft.
Before coming to Ravenscroft, Schutte spent eight years teaching P.E. at Oak Hall School in Gainesville, Florida, where she also coached flag football, soccer, basketball, softball, cross country and baseball.
Schutte played softball for the University of Florida while earning a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a minor in Educational Studies. To date, Schutte holds the highest single-season slugging percentage record (.780) as well as the most home runs in a single season (22) in UF history. Following her time in Gainesville, she earned a Master of Science in Physical Education from the University of South Florida.
Schutte has represented Team USA in the sports of softball and baseball. In 2011, she helped USA Softball bring home a gold medal. She was then a member of USA Baseball in 2018 and 2019, finishing her career with a second gold medal.
Longtime Ravenscroft Athletics coaching staff Chip Hoggard will serve as assistant coach.
“I am beyond excited for the opportunity to be the new head softball coach and look forward to working with our student-athletes,” Schutte said. “Furthermore, I’m so grateful to get to lead this team with the State Championship-winning legend Chip Hoggard. We can’t wait to get to work.”
“We are looking forward to Head Coach Schutte and Assistant Coach Hoggard assuming the role as softball coaches for this upcoming season,” Gonet said. “Both have significant experience as players and coaches, and I am certain they will do a solid job teaching our student-athletes the fundamentals and skills to compete on the diamond.”
