Ravenscroft’s Class of 2025 gathered with families, faculty, and friends at Christ Baptist Church on the evening of Thursday, May 22, for the school’s annual Baccalaureate service—an opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor the shared journey of the senior class before the celebration of Commencement.
Assistant Head of Upper School for Student Leadership Tawambi Settles offered the invocation. Referencing scripture from Isaiah 43 and Jeremiah 29, Settles prayed that the graduates would be “strengthened and encouraged, instilled with hope for the new and extraordinary journeys that lie ahead.” He reminded them that they are “treasures to their families and friends,” and asked that their paths be illuminated as they move into a new chapter of life.
Head of School Derrick Willard then welcomed the audience, thanking performers and speakers before turning his attention to the graduates. “And while the scripture says ‘do not dwell on the past,’ please do not forget us,” he said. “You are always welcome here. When you live these new plans, we want you to come back and share how you have prospered.”
Next, two students shared scripture readings from their faith perspectives.
Sundesh Donthi ’25 read from the Bhagavad Gita, quoting Lord Krishna and encouraging his classmates to approach the future with composure and intention. “Be that person of balance. Be devoted. Be kind. Be strong,” he read. “I hope we find balance as we continue to figure out who we are and where we are going.”
Ethan Silverman ’25 followed with a reading from Proverbs, emphasizing how wisdom and purpose give meaning to life. “Though our time at Ravenscroft is coming to an end, our journey of learning is only beginning,” he said. “We may not have all the answers, but with reflection, growth, and a sense of purpose, we can make every moment count.”

A musical selection by members of the Class of 2025 Concert Choir—ABBA’s Slipping Through My Fingers—added a moment of reflection.
Student Body President Jai Gupta ’25 introduced Sage Crosby ’21 as the alumni speaker, highlighting her academic and leadership accomplishments during and after her time at Ravenscroft. Crosby shared stories from her college experience, encouraging students to embrace challenges. “The things we fear often hold the potential for our greatest breakthroughs,” she said. “Let fear be the catalyst that transforms uncertainty into possibility.”
Gaddyn Cole ’25 then introduced the evening’s featured speaker, Rev. James P. Adams, rector of Christ Episcopal Church. In his remarks, Rev. Adams emphasized the value of kindness and service, using personal anecdotes and historical examples to illustrate his message. “You were born into this world to make life more beautiful and less burdensome for other people,” he said. “By living this way, you make yourself a way for love to reach the ground.”
The program concluded with a benediction from Shea Baker ’25, who offered thanks for the past and encouragement for the future. “May this Class of 2025 continue to be an undeniable light in the world,” she said.
