Dewayne Washington II ’16 Named to UM’s 30 Under 30

Dewayne Washington II ’16 has been recognized among 2022’s “30 Under 30” at the University of Miami, his alma mater. The University of Miami Alumni Association awards this recognition each year based on the impact the selected alumni have made on their profession, community and the University of Miami.

Washington graduated from UM in May 2020 with a B.S.B.A in finance and minors in accounting and business law. A Ravenscroft honors student, conference wrestling champion and member of the 2015 state-championship football team, he played football for the Hurricanes for two years. He also participated on the debate team and served on the executive board of the Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity, as chair of the Hyperion Council and as chair of the Iron Arrow Honor Society.

Today, he works at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Miami. Maintaining his ties to UM, he also serves on the alumni board of the Hyperion Council, a student-led group in the university’s business school that helps nonprofits and small businesses in Miami grow while supporting the development of leadership skills in its members.

Although Washington’s list of accolades is long, he said he was not expecting to be named to UM’s 30 Under 30.

“To be honest, I was super surprised to be recognized on the list, considering I am only 24 and two years removed from the university. There are thousands of alums under the age of 30, and to be one of 30 selected is pretty cool,” he said. “However, the recognition pushes me to continue the work I do on a daily basis. I am grateful that others believe I go above and beyond and that I make an impact. My true joy in life is helping others, and that’s what I try to do consistently.”

Washington’s impact has not been limited to UM and the surrounding community: he is also serving on Ravenscroft’s Alumni Strategic Design Steering Committee.
