Ravenscroft senior Drake Hamlin ’22 signed his National Letter of Intent today to play football for the Georgetown University Hoyas next fall.
The 6’5” offensive tackle has been a four-year varsity letterman for Coach Ned Gonet. A 2021 captain and Coaches Award honoree, Drake was recognized by his opposing coaches as a two-time NCISAA All-State performer and a two-time All-Big East Independent Football Conference team member.
In the spring season, he has lettered three times for Coach Sandy Kapatos as a lacrosse attackman. Last spring, he was a captain of the team and won the team’s Most Improved Player award.
Drake’s athletic and academic performance was recognized earlier this school year when the Raleigh Sports Club named him their student-athlete of the week at their Nov. 3, 2021, luncheon.
“Drake has made a great decision to attend Georgetown University, where he will continue to get an exceptional education and be a solid addition to their football program,” Gonet said. “I will be very interested and excited to watch Drake’s progression, both in the classroom and on the field, as I am certain he will excel in both areas.”
“I would like to thank my parents for providing me with overwhelming support in anything I do. I would also like to thank my coaches for helping me become the player and man I am today,” Drake said. “Thank you to my teammates for pushing me every day in practice and workouts to make me the best possible player I could be. I am thankful for my experience at Ravenscroft, and I am looking forward to the next four years at Georgetown University.”
