Head coaches from Boys Soccer, Volleyball, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Football, Cheer, Field Hockey, and Cross Country reflected on their teams’ seasons, highlighting key achievements, standout performances, and unforgettable experiences from the year.

Girls Golf
The Girls Golf team concluded a successful 2025 season with a strong showing at the NCISAA Division I Girls Golf Championship, held Oct. 20 and 21, at Greensboro National Golf Club. Competing in a 36-hole stroke-play format, the Ravens finished seventh overall in the state.

Leading the team was Grace Garney ’26, who earned All-State honors with an impressive eighth-place individual finish and a two-day total of 164. She was joined at the state tournament by teammates Violet Garney ’28, Lily Garney ’28, and Charlotte Cao ’31. Lily Garney, Charlotte Cao, and Grace Garney also earned All-Conference honors. The team was guided by Head Coach Josh Gallagher, completing his fourth season at the helm.

Cross Country
The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams had an exceptional season under Head Coach Jim Van Veen in his fifth season. In the TISAC Conference, the teams achieved 12 personal records and three season-best performances. Henry Baker ’26 and Ethan Axler ’26 both earned All-Conference honors. Remarkably, for the first time in at least a decade,  six boys ran sub-18-minute times during the season.

At the state meet, both teams competed with their top seven runners. The girls' team finished ninth overall. The boys placed seventh, with all seven runners breaking 19 minutes. Special congratulations to Henry Baker ’26, a Brown University commit, who ran an outstanding fifth-place finish in the state with a time of 15:14.1. This season was a true testament to the team’s hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

Volleyball
The Volleyball team capped off a strong season with a 13-9 overall record — 4-4 in conference play — highlighted by a signature victory over eventual state champions North Raleigh Christian Academy. Entering the NCISAA state playoffs as the sixth seed, the Ravens advanced to the Elite Eight, showcasing resilience and competitive spirit.

Standout performances came from Dartmouth College commit Audrey Kalorin ’26, Tulane University commit Erika Larson ’26, and Ella Martin ’27, all of whom earned TISAC First Team All-Conference honors. Ella Martin and Erika Larson also received All-State recognition. Third-year Coach Sandra Merkel-Dejames led the team.

Field Hockey
The Field Hockey team made significant strides this season, building on the momentum from its 2024–25 campaign. The Ravens secured a state playoff berth, opening with an exciting first-round victory. Under the leadership of Coach Meg Cline, in her second season, standout performances included Anna Stone ’26, who earned TISAC All-Conference First Team and All-State honors. Samantha Brock, Addison Diener, and Madison Mikel received TISAC All-Conference Second Team recognition.

Honors Across All Programs
Each program recognized three standout players with Most Valuable, Most Improved, and Coaches’ Award distinctions, in addition to celebrating All-Conference and All-State selections. These student-athletes were celebrated for their commitment, teamwork, and contributions to their respective teams.
