On Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, just moments before the kick-off of their first Ravenscroft junior varsity football game, members of the team had the opportunity to meet and hear from Desmond Clark, a Wake Forest University Sports Hall of Fame inductee who spent 12 years as a tight end in the National Football League.

Clark, who was in Raleigh working on the early stages of a documentary, connected with the team through Derrick Thompson, a friend and current Ravenscroft parent. A motivational speaker and leadership-training consultant, Clark welcomed the opportunity to talk to the student-athletes before they took to the field for their first game.
