This recognition places them among the highest-scoring students in the country. These exceptional students now have the opportunity to compete for more than 7,500 scholarships worth millions of dollars

Each year, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recognizes students for exceptional academic ability based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). This year’s pool of more than 16,000 semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

Advancing to the Finalist Stage
To become a finalist, semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application. They must have an outstanding high school academic record, be endorsed by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT or ACT scores that confirm their performance on the qualifying test.

About 95% of semifinalists are expected to advance to the finalist standing. National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in April 2026.

Eleven Seniors Named National Merit Commended Scholars

In addition to the four semifinalists, 11 Ravenscroft students were named National Merit Commended Scholars.

  • Henry Baker ’26
  • Robert Brooks ’26
  • Isabelle Chua ’26
  • Hallie Eichler ’26
  • Taylor Gregory ’26
  • Matthew Madewell ’26
  • Macey Malik ’26
  • Sydney Parrish ’26
  • Hayden Shoemaker ’26
  • Amelia Ward ’26
  • Joshua Ward ’26

Each year, approximately 34,000 students, or the top 3% of those who take the PSAT/NMSQT are recognized as Commended Scholars. This achievement recognizes outstanding ability demonstrated on the PSAT/NMSQT.
