Last weekend, Ravenscroft’s boys and girls track and field teams participated in the TISAC Championships, held at Cary Academy. Building on a strong season and outstanding performances at the Raven Relays & Multi Championships on April 29-30, the Ravens had many medalists take the podium.

“I am really proud of our entire team and program this year. All of our athletes really helped push each other and raise the level of our program this season,” Coach Mike Ramel said of the team’s performance at the TISAC Championship. “It was especially evident on the girls side, as we had a Raven on the podium in almost every event, which helped push the girls to a runner-up conference finish — with a bright future ahead, as many of the top girls are underclassmen with a few eighth-graders as well.  The boys program turned out some strong performances in a very competitive meet to finish fourth as a team.

“While we will graduate some great senior leaders from the program this season, there is plenty of youth to build on for the future.”

Congratulations to these Ravens for their successes:

The Ravens will host the NCISAA 4A State Championship meet this Friday, May 20, beginning at 3 p.m., and Saturday, May 22, beginning at 10 a.m.

Coach Mike Ramel said of the NCISAA Championship, “We are excited to be able to host the NCISAA championship at Ravenscroft this coming weekend, as it is such a luxury for our athletes to compete at their home facility. We have many highly ranked athletes with a chance at state-championship titles and podium finishes, so we hope the home field advantage truly becomes that. Our group has a chance to improve on its previous year’s finish, and I think they will continue to make a name for themselves at the highest level. The girls were ninth last year and boys 13th; I think the girls have a shot at Top 5 where the boys should crack the Top 10.”

The meet will be livestreamed (a subscription to MileSplit is required) for those who cannot attend in person.
