Indoor Track Athletes Win 15 Medals at Adidas Nationals

Twenty-four Ravens from the winter-season indoor track team qualified to compete at the Adidas Track Nationals, which took place Friday, March 17-Sunday, March 19, at the Virginia Beach Sport Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The meet comprised four divisions of competition: Middle School, Freshman, National and Championship — an elite category with what Coach Mike Ramel called “really tough time standards.” In a thrilling success, the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Laurel Carter ’23, Hanna Babu ’27, Macey Malik ’26 and Tayla Nargassans ’23 qualified for the Championship Division, coming in fifth and setting a new school record.

The competition held many other successes for the Ravens.

Robby Grant ’26 advanced through the preliminary rounds of the Freshman 60m to get to the finals, where he placed fifth overall and set a new school record. Logan Smith ’26 took second place in the Freshman High Jump. Charlotte Stringer ’26 earned three medals — one individually in the Freshman Mile (fifth place) and two as part of school-record-setting relay teams: with Mia Strazzella ’23, Olivia Rivera ’25 and Haley Browne ’25 in the National Distance Medley Relay (sixth place) and with Sammey Malik ’26, Mia Strazella ’23 and Haley Browne ’25 in the National 4x800 Relay (sixth place).

In addition to the individuals and relay teams noted above, Yogin Patel ’23 set a new school record for the National Mile (4:43.57), and Max Moser ’23 tied his own school record in the National Pole Vault with a jump of 13’.

“This was an amazing experience for all of the athletes that qualified for Adidas Indoor Nationals,” Ramel said. “To be recognized for their dedication to their sport, to be able to compete at one of the best facilities in the country, and to shine bright on the biggest stage was incredible for these Ravens. We came away with 15 medals, 11 All-Americans, eight school records — and a lifetime of memories!”
