Jason Anklowitz, Dion Bennett Join Board of Trustees

Ravenscroft has announced two new members joining the Board of Trustees, which provides high-level governance and visioning around long-term strategic priorities.

Board chair Laura Helton Kalorin ’92 shared in an email to the school community that Jason Anklowitz and Dion Bennett begin their terms as of July 1.

Jason Anklowitz, parent to two Ravens in the Lower School, has accumulated a wealth of K-12 experience over two-and-a-half decades in education, beginning with Teach for America in the Washington, DC, public schools and continuing with private, independent schools both within the United States and overseas. Twice a Head of School, Anklowitz has led reviews designed to boost every aspect of a school community, from teaching and learning to strategy and advancement.

Anklowitz holds a B.A. in history from The George Washington University, where he was a four-year member and senior captain of the crew team. He later earned a master’s degree in education from Harvard University with an emphasis on language and literacy and an MBA from the University of California - Los Angeles.

Dion Bennett has called Raleigh home since the age of 5. As Vice President and Business Development Officer at First Bank, he manages relationships with North Carolina businesses for commercial lending and finance. In this role, he assists commercial-based clients and businesses with financing, business strategy development and resolution, commercial-debt refinance and multiple related aspects of business operations.

Bennett has served on the Holt Brothers Foundation Board and is on the N.C. Dementia Alliance Board of Directors. He graduated from NC State with a B.S. in pulp/paper science and a B.A. in chemistry. Bennett and Kimberly, his wife of 20 years, have two children, Deanna ’25 and Donovan ’29.

In addition to welcoming these two new board members, Kalorin extended her gratitude to outgoing trustee Mary Grady Bell ’14, who has served on the board since 2021.

“This dedicated group of volunteers keeps Ravenscroft’s mission at the center of everything we do,” Kalorin wrote in her email. “I would like to thank each of them for the many hours they have given (and will give this upcoming year) for the benefit of our school.”
