Joined by their teachers, family, friends and their fellow Ravens from the Lower School, the Class of 2030 gathered to celebrate their time in the Lower School and look forward to the transition to sixth grade.
The Fifth-Grade Closing Ceremony took place in Warner Arena in the A.E. Finley Activity Center on Friday, June 2, with music provided by the Lower School Strings Orchestra and the singing of the National Anthem led by Ella James Bever ’30 and Amaya Crichlow ’30. Special Music, “Build Me a World” by Ginger Littleton, was performed by the Lower School’s Raving Ravens choir.
Assistant Head of Lower School Steven Mercado began the ceremony with the invocation, sharing the poem “It Couldn’t Be Done” by Edgar Albert Guest.
In her remarks, Head of Lower School Nicole Girvan celebrated the many accomplishments and contributions of the Class of 2030, saying to the fifth-graders:
As you prepare to embark on the next phase of your educational journey, remember the lessons you have learned here, in the Lower School at Ravenscroft. Cherish the friendships you have formed; they are a source of support and strength. Embrace challenges with courage, for they provide growth opportunities. And never stop pursuing your dreams; they promise a bright and fulfilling future!
There were lots of smiles and waves as Girvan then presented students with their certificates. Head of School Doreen Kelly and Head of Middle School Bernardo Guzmán extended congratulations and a warm welcome to the rising sixth-graders.
Following the ceremony, the Class of 2030 and their guests enjoyed a reception in the Olander Center for Student Life.
