As part of Ravenscroft’s continuing partnership with families to nurture and support students’ health, wellness and potential, the Parent Education Series for 2023-24 offers a robust slate of speakers and presentations throughout the year.

The series kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 19, with a Lead From Here workshop for parents and guardians to explore and experience the PreK-12 citizen leadership framework cocreated with the Center for Creative Leadership.

Of note this year are two nationally recognized keynote speakers.

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, Lynn Lyons will give a talk entitled “Modeling Matters: What Parents Need to Know (and Do) to Decrease Stress, Worry and Anxiety.” Lyons is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist and the co-author of “Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents: 7 Ways to Stop the Worry Cycle and Raise Courageous & Independent Children” and the companion book for kids, “Playing with Anxiety: Casey’s Guide for Teens and Kids.”

Then, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Traci Baxley will speak on “Creating Safe Spaces of Belonging in Your Home.” Baxley is a professor, consultant, coach, speaker, the mother of five biracial children and the creator and author of “Social Justice Parenting.” An educator for more than 30 years with degrees in child development, elementary education, and curriculum and instruction, she specializes in diversity and inclusion, anti-bias curriculum and social justice education. She will explore how using your core family values to create safe spaces and open dialogue in your home can foster children who have compassion for others.
