Ravens of the 2000s: Honored Among North Carolina’s Best

High School OT recently featured a list of the top North Carolina high school athletes of the 2000s, spanning sports, schools, and generations. Ravenscroft School was proudly represented by five standout alumni and a current member of our coaching staff, highlighting Ravenscroft’s long-standing tradition of athletic excellence and leadership.

Ryan Frazier 16x9

Ryen Frazier ’15 - Cross Country/Track

Ryen Frazier was a two-time Track and Field All-American at Ravenscroft, a four-time New Balance National Champion, New Balance All-American, and the 2015 New Balance Outdoor Nationals co-MVP. She earned NCHSAA All-State honors. Frazier has been inducted into both the Ravenscroft Sports Hall of Fame and the North Carolina High School Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame. She competed at N.C. State University, where she was a three-time All-ACC performer, a three-time All-ACC Academic Team selection, earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors three times, and qualified as a two-time NCAA East Regional qualifier in cross country and track.

 

Wesley Frazier

Wesley Frazier ’13 - Cross Country/Track

At Ravenscroft, Wesley Frazier was an eight-time national champion, a 17-time All-America honoree, and the first high school girl to win the “long-distance triple” at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. She captured nine state championships, including the 2009 NCISAA Cross Country State Championship, and was named the 2013 North Carolina Gatorade Track and Field Player of the Year and North Carolina Gatorade Cross Country Player of the Year. Her achievements earned induction into both the Ravenscroft Sports Hall of Fame and the North Carolina High School Track and Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame. Frazier began her collegiate career at Duke University before transferring to N.C. State University, where she earned All-ACC honors, helped win an ACC Championship, and set a school record in the indoor 3000m.

 

Ryan Gerard

Ryan Gerard ’17 - Golf

Ryan Gerard won the 2017 NCISAA 3A State Championship as part of the team title and finished second individually in the state playoffs.. He earned four-time NCISAA All-State honors and was a three-time TISAC Player of the Year, while also achieving AJGA Junior All-America recognition and representing the East Team at the 2016 Wyndham Cup. Gerard continued his career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned All-America honors in 2020 and 2022, was a member of the ACC All-Academic Team, posted one of the lowest career stroke averages in program history, and set the UNC 18-hole scoring record with a bogey-free 61. Turning professional in 2022, Gerard earned his PGA Tour card for 2025 by finishing 12th on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024. Most recently, he recorded a runner-up finish at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, moving to 44th in the Official World Golf Ranking and securing his spot in the 2026 Masters Tournament.

 

Ryan Kelly

Ryan Kelly ’09 - Basketball

Ryan Kelly finished his Ravenscroft career as the school’s all-time point leader. He earned  First Team All-State honors, TISAC Player of the Year, Gatorade North Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year, and High School All-American recognition, including selection as a 2009 McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand All-American, and was rated among the top 20 players nationally by Scout.com. Kelly was inducted into the Ravenscroft Sports Hall of Fame. At Duke University, he was a member of the 2010 NCAA National Championship team, serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons. Kelly was selected in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and continues to play professionally overseas, currently competing in Japan’s B.League for Fukui Blowinds. 

 

Caroline Lindquist

Caroline Lindquist ’12 - Soccer

Caroline Lindquist was the 2011 Gatorade North Carolina Girls Soccer Player of the Year and an ESPN Rise First-Team All-America. She earned multiple All-State and All-Conference selections. She led the Ravens to the NCISAA 3A State Tournament, finishing as state runner-up during her freshman year. She was an All-Conference selection as a freshman, junior, and senior, earned Conference Player of the Year as a senior, was named Regional Player of the Year, and received All-State honors her final two years of high school. She was also an AP Scholar. Lindquist participated in the U.S. Soccer U-18 National Team Player Pool and national camps, and went on to play collegiate soccer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

 

Coach Chris Wilcox

Coach Chris Wilcox - Basketball at Whiteville/Enloe ’00 

Assistant Basketball Coach Chris Wilcox played at Whiteville High School, leading his team to the 2A State Championship in 1999, then transferred to William G. Enloe High School in Raleigh. He continued his career at the University of Maryland, where he was a key contributor to the Terrapins’ 2002 NCAA National Championship team and earned All-ACC honors as a sophomore. Wilcox was selected eighth overall in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers and played 11 seasons in the NBA with the Clippers, Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Boston Celtics. Today, Wilcox serves as an assistant varsity and junior varsity boys basketball coach at Ravenscroft.
