Ravenscroft Athletic Club Leads Fundraising Effort to Secure New Turf Field for Student-Athletes

Ravenscroft is set to enhance its athletics facilities with a new state-of-the-art turf field, thanks to a successful fundraising effort led by the Ravenscroft Athletic Club (RAC) and parents of student-athletes. The spring campaign raised nearly $1 million to provide a modern, durable playing surface for the school’s various sports teams.

“It was important for RAC to support the turf field project because it represents an investment in both our student-athletes and the broader community,” said RAC President Randi Gilbert. “A turf field will provide a safer, more reliable playing surface that can withstand heavy use and changing weather conditions, reducing cancellations and rescheduling. This means our athletes will have consistent opportunities to practice and compete, which is essential for their development, confidence, and school pride.”

With RAC’s leadership, Ravenscroft was able to raise the funds needed for this project in less than three months.

Construction on the new field is scheduled to begin later this year, after the conclusion of the fall sports season. Ravenscroft is working with Geosurfaces to install Pivot Performance Turf — an environmentally conscious turf solution, which was designed with top-performing athletes and has no added PFAs. The project is expected to be completed in time for the spring 2026 sports season.

“This is going to have a tremendous impact on our student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Ned Gonet. “Last year, students on our field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer teams missed nearly 50 days of outdoor practice and game time because of poor field conditions caused by rain. Having a turf field on campus will help our teams be competitive and game-ready.”

In addition to strengthening the school’s facilities infrastructure, Gonet noted that the addition of a turf field will serve the wider community now and in the future – PE classes, auxiliary services and programs, facility rentals and usage, will all benefit from this project. This strategic combination will provide consistent, high-quality playing surfaces for both practices and games, regardless of weather conditions.

Gilbert said this project demonstrates a commitment to giving our students the best possible environment to learn, grow, and thrive. “A turf field is not just about sports — it’s about school spirit, opportunity, and ensuring our facilities reflect the pride we have in our community.”
