Ravenscroft Business Students Shine at District DECA Competition
Ravenscroft DECA students at 2025 Regional Competition

In early December, 27 Ravenscroft students traveled to the Raleigh Convention Center to test their business acumen at the District 3 DECA competition. The competition served as an opportunity for students to demonstrate their expertise in various industry sectors through role-play scenarios.

The Ravenscroft delegation emerged with significant accolades, including four first-place winners who topped their respective categories:

  • Nanaki Kainth '28 – Principles of Entrepreneurship
  • Sais Smith '27 – Sports and Entertainment Marketing
  • Nikki Gupta '26 – Principles of Hospitality and Tourism
  • Hannah Bever '27– Principles of Finance

The Ravenscroft DECA chapter, only in its second year, continues to see a surge in interest. For the faculty advisors, the program is more than just a club—it is a bridge between the classroom and the professional world.

Stevi Vaughn, who is 10th-Grade Dean and a DECA Advisor, said it was important for her to share her passion with this organization with Ravenscroft students. “I participated in DECA in high school and also majored in international business, so I love getting to be part of this space again,” Vaughn said. “ I have so many great memories from DECA events.” Vaughn was a two-time first place winner in the state when she was a student.

The success in Raleigh is only the beginning. Many of the participating students have qualified for the next level of competition. They are now preparing for the 83rd Annual DECA Career Development Conference, the state-level competition held in Greensboro this February.
