Ravenscroft Joins Round Square, Global Network Spanning 50 Countries

Ravenscroft is honored to announce it has been approved for candidacy as a Round Square Member School.

Round Square is a global network of more than 260 like-minded schools across 50 countries. Its philosophy centers on promoting character education and experiential learning through six “IDEALS”: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service.

“This is a proud moment for the Ravenscroft community,” said Head of School Derrick Willard. “Becoming a Round Square candidate school reflects Ravenscroft’s commitment to preparing students to engage thoughtfully and meaningfully with an increasingly interconnected world.”

Ravenscroft is the only Round Square school in the Triangle and one of only two in North Carolina.

“The opportunities this partnership creates — from international collaboration and service to leadership and cultural exchange — will allow our students to put their learning into practice while developing the character and skills they need to lead with purpose,” Willard said.

Round Square will open opportunities for students across all three divisions:

  • Upper School International Diploma students will take part in virtual visits and discussions with students around the world.
  • Ravenscroft Middle and Upper School faculty and students will have access to international conferences, opportunities to build exchange programs and service-abroad programming.
  • This fall, six Upper School students from Ravenscroft will attend Round Square’s annual conference in Australia.
  • A Round Square Student Committee will be established on campus to explore additional connections and opportunities.
  • Lower School students will have the opportunity to participate in a Worldwide Show and Tell virtual program.

“This partnership is a natural extension of who we are,” said Assistant Head of School for Community, Culture and Belonging Sarah Sims. “Round Square provides us with a broader global infrastructure to support our mission. This work is deeply aligned with our Lead From Here framework and our Global Education mission and vision. By connecting our students with peers and perspectives from around the globe, we are providing them with the real-world laboratory needed to develop the competencies to collaborate with others.”
