The Ravenscroft swim teams competed in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic State Championship Swim Meet on Monday, Feb. 14, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The boys team finished fifth overall with 166 points. The girls team placed seventh overall with 134 points.

“We had some outstanding performances at our state meet this year,” head coach Greg Warren said. “We had far more swimmers to qualify for finals, which was an improvement from last year. Our added depth on both the boys and girls teams helped with our overall standings. Of the 20 swimmers that competed, we had 28 best times. It was a fun meet, and I was extremely proud of how everyone performed!”

Earlier in February, the Ravens competed in the Triangle Independent School Athletic Conference’s conference-wide meet. The boys team placed second overall, and the girls team placed third. Ryan Hardy ’22 won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.57, breaking the TISAC conference record. Other TISAC Meet winners for the Ravens were Alexii Cady ’24 in the 100-yard butterfly (54.89) and Shakira Qian ’24 in the 100-yard freestyle (53.94).

“Overall, we swam really well at this year’s conference meet,” Warren said. “For many of our swimmers, it’s their only championship competition during the season. As a team, we focused on performing our best at this meet, and we had over 50 best times. We were able to qualify 20 swimmers for this year’s state championship meet.”
