Two Alumni Inducted Into Ravenscroft Sports Hall of Fame

The Ravenscroft Alumni Association inducted two new members into the Sports Hall of Fame during the Alumni Awards Celebration on Friday, May 16. Basketball players Marc Campbell ’05 and Erin Bratcher ’10 were recognized for their outstanding achievements both on the court at Ravenscroft and beyond.

The evening's event kicked off Alumni Weekend and was attended by nearly 200 alumni and guests.

The Sports Hall of Fame was created in 1994 to honor alumni who graduated from Ravenscroft at least five years prior, as well as coaches and athletic administrators. The award recognizes Ravens who “have left a lasting impression of achievement and excellence on the Ravenscroft athletic family” and shown “consistent respect for and loyalty to Ravenscroft School and good sportsmanship and citizenship.”

When hearing about Campbell’s many accomplishments at Ravenscroft, it’s no surprise he was nominated for the Sports Hall of Fame. Kevin Billerman, head coach of the boys basketball team, presented the award to one of his many talented former athletes.

“Marc Campbell's career at Ravenscroft was extraordinary,” Billerman said. “One of the BEST to ever play at Ravenscroft, averaging 26 wins a year.”

While at Ravenscroft, Campbell was a standout on Billerman’s team. During his Ravenscroft career, he scored over 1,000 points and had 79 career wins over three years. He is currently the third overall leading scorer in school history and the second overall leader in assists. Campbell was a two-time Triangle Independent School Athletic Conference (TISAC) Player of the Year and a three-time TISAC Champion. He earned All-State honors twice and participated in two NCISAA State Championship games.

After Ravenscroft, Campbell played collegiate basketball at the University of North Carolina from 2006 to 2010 and was part of the National Championship team in 2009. After college, he played professionally in Italy, Germany and Estonia. Since 2018, he has been a private coach for multiple NBA players.

Erin Bratcher ’10

Bratcher’s sister, Ashley Bratcher ’05, surprised the honoree and guests by delivering the induction remarks. Ashley shared a story from their childhood, saying that even among siblings, Erin was the star player as “our brother would always appeal the teams by citing the lopsidedness” when Erin wasn’t on his team!

At Ravenscroft, Erin was a four-year varsity letter winner in both basketball and softball. On the court, she was a two-time team MVP, scored over 1,500 points and contributed more than 500 rebounds on her path to earning All-State and All-Conference honors.

Upon graduating, Erin played  Division I basketball at Charleston Southern University, where she still ranks second all-time in three-pointers made, 21st in total career points and 25th in steals. In the 2013-14 season, she earned an All-Conference honorable mention.

After college, her basketball career continued for the Krofdorf Knights in Germany from 2015-2018. During this time, the team won a league championship. Her jersey number was retired in 2019.

Bratcher continues to promote health and wellness as a local business owner of EB Athletics — which most recently won a bronze award in The News & Observer's Raleigh’s Best competition for best gym.

Congratulations to these two new members of the Sports Hall of Fame!
