Class of 2009 Alumni Reflect on Time at Spoleto Study Abroad
Emma DeMent ’16, Alumni Engagement Officer

Camille Condrey Marks ’09, Alex Stevenson ’09 and Liz Yochem Wood ’09 reflect on the impact of their 2008 summer arts experience in Italy during their time with Ravenscroft’s Fine Arts Department.

The Spoleto Study Abroad program offers students the opportunity to explore the arts and spend time with students from around the world. We caught up with three fine arts Ravens — Camille Condrey Marks ’09, Alex Stevenson ’09 and Liz Yochem Wood ’09 — who spent several weeks in the summer of 2008 drinking in the culture, food, architecture and beauty of Italy while learning about their chosen artistic discipline through the program. Here’s what they had to say about their experience in Italy during their time with Ravenscroft’s Fine Arts Department.

Tell us about what you’ve been up to!

Camille Condrey Marks ’09: I moved back to Raleigh at the end of 2019 after spending over six years in Denver, Colorado. It has been a really cool experience to come back to Raleigh and see how much the city has grown since I left in 2009 and continues to grow in the five years since I moved back. I am currently a Lifecycle Marketing Manager at Carfax and my husband and I just welcomed our first child, Ro, in July of last year and have been enjoying the journey of parenthood over the last almost eight months!

Alex Stevenson ’09: I just celebrated 10 years of living in Los Angeles so it is feeling like home. It’s such a big city, and takes a while to settle in but I have found the little pocket of the city called Eagle Rock that is my favorite place to be. I recently got my MBA from Pepperdine and got engaged in February and am looking forward to celebrating with friends and family. For work I am doing Entertainment and Sports Partnerships at Creative Artists Agency.

Liz Yochem Wood ’09: After graduating from Ravenscroft, I attended the University of South Carolina where I earned a degree in journalism with a minor in graphic design. I moved to Charlotte after graduating from USC and worked at a boutique web design and development agency. Since it was a small agency, I wore a lot of different hats and was able to get experience of all parts of the business from UX design, development, content management, SEO and more.

In the fall of 2016, I moved back to Raleigh, got married and started working at Red Hat. I have been at Red Hat for seven and a half years and currently manage a team of UX designers. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. They are three and one so they keep us really busy.
