In his latest children’s book featuring Cecil the Littlest Ant, Jones uses a soccer match to explore themes of teamwork, determination and good sportsmanship.
“Cecil and the Soccer Match”
In the latest Cecil the Littlest Ant story, the other boys invite him to join their club soccer team. After winning their championship game, Cecil is excited to see that the Pesky triplets, his good friends, have also won the girls’ championship game.
When the boys on his team belittle the triplets’ accomplishment and say girls can’t play soccer, Cecil offers support and encouragement to his friends — and the girls use teamwork, determination and good sportsmanship to show Moose and the other boys that girls can play soccer, too.
