Ravenscroft Graduates Class of 2011
The 102 members of the Class of 2011 graduated on a beautiful Friday evening, June 3.
After the processional of trustees, faculty and graduates, Head of School Doreen Kelly announced several faculty and staff awards.
Receiving the Helton Award were: Chip Hoggard, Assistant Athletics Director; Patrick Knox, Lower School Science Instructor; Nelson Nunalee, Upper School Science Instructor; Amy Pendergrass, Director of Extended Day; and Teresa Taylor, Middle School Language Arts Instructor. Middle and Upper School History Instructor Glenn DeLaney was honored with the Parents’ Association Distinguished Faculty Award; Upper School English Instructor Marcia Jones and Middle School Science Instructor Janet Vande Berg received the Qubain Chair in Teaching Excellence; and Physical Education Instructor David Myers was the recipient the O’Herron Award. At the Lower School Closing Exercises on June 3, Third Grade Instructor Jennifer Baccus was honored with an award for Lower School Curriculum and Instruction.
Peter W. Cobb, President and Lead Consultant of Cobb & Associates, was the Commencement Speaker; Valedictorian was Faith OBrian '11' and Class Speaker was Zaki Haidary '11.
The Senior Class gift was also presented, which is a bronze raven sculpture that will be placed on a brick pedestal at the entrance to Stefanou Field.
