The DPAC Rising Star Awards are held annually and recognize “outstanding achievements in high school musical theater throughout central North Carolina and focuses attention on the meaningful work being done both on and off stage by dedicated teachers and students.”

Ravenscroft’s production of “Little Women” Musical, held Friday, Jan. 31-Sunday, Feb 2, was recently nominated for School Productions Best Musical Tier 1 of the DPAC Rising Star Awards.

“The fact that our collaborative work has been recognized as exceptional is such an honor that I did not expect,” Drama Instructor Abbey Maxwell said. “Our goal with these productions is always to create something beautiful, but so much of the beauty lies in the work and the heart of the people involved.”

The DPAC Rising Star Awards are held annually and recognize “outstanding achievements in high school musical theater throughout central North Carolina and focuses attention on the meaningful work being done both on and off stage by dedicated teachers and students.”

“‘Little Women’ is a special show for many reasons,” Maxwell said of Ravenscroft’s musical production. “Most of the cast and crew are students that I have taught since they were in Middle School, and it is thrilling to see how they have matured over the last five years. Whatever happens at the awards ceremony, I am so proud of the work we completed this year, and I am so delighted by this nomination and recognition.”

Hosted by Clay Aiken, with special guest J. Harrison Ghee, the awards ceremony will be held on May 29, 2025, at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
